A lucky shot

I couldn't believe my luck with this shot. I was in the woods near the water's edge taking some shots of a common yellowthroat, when I happened to hear the sound of a humming bird just above my head. I turned slowly to find it, and it flew to this limb to perch for a moment. It's either a female or a juvenile male. I have seen hummers at the marsh on several occasions, but this is the first time I was able to get a shot of one in the wild. (Poster edges filter applied.)

Pint-sized charmers

No, there are no hummingbird feeders at the marsh these days (although I have seen a hummingbird there, just once). Today I got to thinking that the little family of Ruby-throats that have enlivened my back yard for weeks now, will soon be heading south, so I took some time to record their presence before it was too late. The top photo is an adult female, while I believe the bottom photo is of an immature male (there's just a hint of red on its throat).
