A touch of pink
This is the season for roses, including the wild ones. This Virginia rose bush (Rosa virginiana) is located just before moving into the wooded section of the trail, if you enter from the upper end. Its thorns are curved and its leaves are glossy, as opposed to the straight thorns and dull leaves of its close relative, the Pasture rose (Rosa carolina). (This is for you, Ursula.)
Just as I took this shot this morning, a pair of yellow warblers flew into the bush, one of which was a juvenile! I wasn't quick enough to get a shot of them before they moved on, darn.

Thanks for the rose, Lois. I'm going to try to transplant one to my property.
