I had moved out onto one of the points where the power poles sit this morning, and happened to notice a duck feeding in the duckweed close to the shore on my left. It was a young black duck. I held perfectly still, as I know these ducks startle easily, and watched as it rejoined its mother and ten siblings, all of which were also busily feeding. Some of them moved into a clump of cattails, then all moved toward the bank, fed there for a couple of minutes, then 'mom' collected them and they moved off.
